Power2EMC – Final Assembly: Advancing EMC Solutions for Future Electric Vehicles

With the successful Final Assembly at TU Dortmund University and the final system-level validation at EMC-Test, the Power2EMC project has taken another important step toward the industrial adoption of advanced EMC technologies in electric vehicles.

As part of the NovoMotive project family, Power2EMC addresses one of the key challenges of vehicle electrification: ensuring electromagnetic compatibility while increasing power density, reducing system complexity, and maintaining cost competitiveness. The project is coordinated by Infineon Technologies AG and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) as well as the European Union (NextGenerationEU). The final validation was performed in a vehicle-like laboratory setup, enabling realistic assessment of the developed technologies under automotive operating conditions. The results confirm that innovative EMC approaches can be successfully integrated across major vehicle power electronics systems and transferred into future automotive architectures.

For the automotive industry, the impact extends far beyond EMC compliance. As electric vehicles continue to demand higher power levels, faster charging capabilities, and increased system integration, manufacturers face growing challenges related to packaging, efficiency, weight, material usage, and overall costs. The technologies developed within Power2EMC contribute to addressing these challenges by enabling more compact, scalable, and sustainable power electronic systems.

The project has also established a strong foundation for future technology transfer through scientific publications, international conference presentations, and academic research activities, supporting the path from research to industrial implementation.

Power2EMC demonstrates how collaborative innovation can help shape the next generation of electric vehicles, enabling more efficient, integrated, and economically viable automotive power electronics.
