Pioneering Privacy-First Safety: Introducing the SICHER Project!
As autonomous driving advances, reliable In-Cabin Sensing is crucial. But how do we monitor driver attention and passenger safety without compromising privacy? The answer lies in Radar Technology.
Unlike cameras, radar offers inherent privacy protection, ensuring high acceptance while delivering the precision needed for safety-critical applications. SICHER aims to push the boundaries of current technology by developing a high-resolution radar sensor using next-generation SiGe BiCMOS technology.
Key Innovations:
Next-Gen Hardware: Development of broadband transceivers in SiGe BiCMOS (up to 700 GHz technology) and SiGe HBTs.
Advanced AI: Embedded AI algorithms for object recognition, gesture detection, and vital parameter monitoring (heart rate, breathing) to assess driver alertness.
Real-World Validation: Testing in private vehicles (Use Case 1) and public transport mock-ups (Use Case 2).
Standardization: Standardization: Active contribution to regulatory frameworks and technology standards.
