Privacy-First Safety: Introducing SICHER – The Future of In-Cabin Sensing! Redefining in-cabin sensing for autonomous vehicles! – by the funding project SICHER, a pioneering project within the NovoMotive family.
FAs autonomous driving becomes reality, reliable occupant monitoring is no longer optional—it’s essential. But how do we monitor driver attention and passenger safety without compromising privacy?
Enter Radar Technology. Unlike cameras, radar sensors offer inherent privacy protection, making them a more acceptable and future-proof solution for in-cabin monitoring. However, current technology lacks the resolution needed for detailed analysis.
The SICHER Innovation: In this project, we are developing a next-generation, high-resolution radar sensor using advanced SiGe BiCMOS technology. By increasing bandwidth, frequency, and receiver channels, we achieve a level of detail previously unattainable.
Key Capabilities:
- Vital Parameter Monitoring: Detecting heart rate and breathing to assess driver alertness.
- Gesture & Object Recognition: AI-driven algorithms for intuitive human-machine interaction.
- Embedded AI: Real-time processing via embedded AI, ensuring low latency and high efficiency.
- Real-World Validation: Testing in both laboratory environments and test vehicles to ensure robust performance.
The Bigger Picture: SICHER is one of four projects in the NovoMotive family, coordinated by Infineon Technologies AG. Together, we are setting the standards for tomorrow’s automotive electronics, fostering synergies to create sustainable, safe, and smart mobility solutions.
We look forward to sharing our progress and demonstrating how radar technology can make autonomous vehicles safer, smarter, and more private!
